SYMBOLIC GESTURES

In every culture people have developed symbolic gestures. The gesture then means something within that particular culture. An example would be the act of bowing slightly upon meeting another person. It is generally accepted as showing respect to the other person. Everyday life can be filled with symbolic gestures. In some cultures symbolic gestures are not everyday occurrences due to tremendous pressures just to survive. Because of significance attached to certain gestures, frequency of use may, over time, bring a lesser importance to the symbolism. Are the symbolic gestures you use in your life truly important?
